At ASSET we believe in giving all Early Careers Teachers (ECT) the best possible start to their careers and are committed to delivering bespoke support to each individual. In 2021/22, the Early Careers Framework sets out plans for all Trusts and schools to provide support and additional release, training and mentoring for all new teachers for the first two years of their career. We understand and support this move as it is crucial that we nurture the strengths of our new staff and allow them to feel secure and confident in what they do. All Asset Schools have qualified mentors to support new staff in school. In addition, the central team and other experts across the Trust will deliver 3 days of focussed CPD over the first year focussing on pedagogy and the latest research led ideas and practice
This year we are privileged to have 8 Newly qualified teachers and 12 SCITT students in our schools.
ECT and staff working with them will be supported by Kate Hodgetts (Head of St Helen’s) who oversees Initial Teacher Training and Early Careers teaching across the schools.
School Centred Initial Teacher Training
As a Trust we believe in supporting our local SCITT provider and work closely with Suffolk and Norfolk SCITT to train and nurture future teachers, with St. Helen’s being one of their lead schools.
