Clare Flintoff
Clare Flintoff is our Chief Executive Officer. Formerly headteacher at St Helen’s Primary in Ipswich, she has led the Trust since its formation in 2015. Her first headship, in west Suffolk, was followed by two years working as a Local Authority Adviser and School Improvement Partner in north Suffolk. During this time she undertook Ofsted inspector training, supported headteacher performance management, ran governor and school leader training courses and worked on curriculum development.
At St Helen’s she developed a Suffolk-wide graduate internship programme, introduced the school’s innovative ‘language structures’ programme, and developed a highly skilled team of teachers and support staff. In 2013 St Helen’s became a lead school for initial teacher training and continues to train up to 15 new teachers every year.
Clare sits on the strategic board for Suffolk and Norfolk SCITT and the Angles Maths Hub. She is a Local Leader in Education (LLE), an Ambassador for Suffolk New College and a Local Governor at Suffolk One. Her particular interests include developing school to school support, building on strengths, focusing on classroom practice and developing staff at all levels.
As CEO at ASSET she has grown the trust from 3 to 14 schools over 5 years and has built up a strong central support team. She leads us with purpose and integrity in our mission to tackle social injustice and inequality in education, giving every child the opportunity to be successful and fulfilled in their lives and always guided by our values of excellence, engagement, empowerment and equity.
