The ASSET Arrows - our Trust Pupil Parliament
Two children from each ASSET school are elected each year to be ASSET Arrows. Their role is two-fold:
First, the Arrows act as representatives of the children in their school community, consulting and carrying out research so that they can bring the voice of each school to our half termly meetings where they collectively make decisions on trust wide issues. For example, last year the Arrows decided what categories we should have in the annual ASSET Awards, after consulting with their peers on what we value most across our Trust community.
Secondly, our Arrows lead work within the school community. They take tasks back to their schools after the half termly ASSET Arrow meetings, and meet with Headteachers, staff and children to consider how to embed new ideas. For example, Arrows are leading our collaborative work across schools on the ASSET Food Project.
We work hard to develop our ASSET Arrows' leadership skills and sense of agency. We know that their leadership is an inspiration not only to their peers, but to the adults in our community too. Our Arrows regularly speak at events, sharing their views and ambitions, and leaving no-one in any doubt that children have a voice and they want to be empowered to do the work.
