Bungay's Project
Bungay's Project
At the Food Summit Bungay identified that many children didn’t like the taste of certain vegetables but recognised that vegetables are a healthy choice. So they decided to research hot meals that have many vegetables and are more palatable. For example, creating a dish where vegetables are incorporated in a sauce.
To achieve this the Eco Council created an itinerary to research as well as creating and evaluating making a main hot meal that would incorporate vegetables but still appeal to children who didn’t have a hot meal because they disliked the taste of vegetables.
Bungay found this to be important as vegetables are essential for healthy living so encouraging children to eat vegetables can only help to improve their physical and mental health.
The video below goes into further depth about what their plans were for the project:
Bungay continued to work on researching different meal choices and coming up with delicious recipes to reflect the culture of the school, and for families to create at home, so that children could get used to the kind of food that they would find on the school menu. They invested in a range of equipment to try out these recipes such as a mini-portable oven, an airfryer, a crepe maker, a waffle machine and a sandwich maker.
They proudly displayed their work at the Food Showcase and both ASSET arrows gave speeches on their project which you can find below:
